My name is Kelly Ann Orosz and I was born in Irvine California, and raised by two wonderful parents who were both science educators. I grew up with a love for the sciences and experience helping in the classroom. This early experience with teaching and science spurred my current choice in career and my passion for the teaching profession.
I graduated with honors from Woodbridge High School in 2002 and went on to attend Whittier College on a athletic and academic scholarship. I was honored with being chosen for the All American soccer team for college athletes in 2004. High level athletics taught me many valuable skills such as discipline, hard work, and collaboration/leadership skills. These skills have helped develop my career as a successful teacher. In 2007 I graduated from Concordia University with my BA and went on to receive my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and Subject Matter Authorization in General Science from Concordia in 2008.
In 2008 and was hired on as a middle school science teacher at Richard Merkin Middle Academy. During my employment at RMMS, the science scores rose to the highest they had been since the school opened. I was awarded Teacher of the Year in 2010 through the ECCLA (Education Consortium of Central Los Angeles) and USC (University of Southern California). I also worked as a 4th grade elementary teacher and science specialist at Shanghai Community International school in China, where I experienced teaching students from all over the world and gained a new depth in my cultural experiences. For the past two years I worked at the top international school in Belgrade, Serbia teaching MYP 6th, 7th and 8th grade integrated science. These experiences have helped fine tune my skills in developing and implementing rigorous curriculum for all learners.
I am passionate about empowering the students and helping them to develop their full potential. I enjoy being creative and utilizing new ideas and approaches to improve the learning environment for all students. I have incorporated a variety of hands on lessons, models, and project based learning activities to inspire, motivate, and engage students. I have worked in many different educational settings and have developed valuable skills while teaching diverse groups of students. I am adept at individualizing the curriculum to meet each student's needs and designing resourceful lessons that accommodate differing learning abilities and styles.
